Myofasical Pain and massage for fibromyalgia

Massage by Self for Myofasical Pain and Fibromyalgia

When you cannot afford a fibromyalgia massage therapist, it's a good idea to give yourself a very gentle self massage. If your body's not too stiff you can massage around your fibromyalgia tenderpoints on your legs, arms, and front torso. If you have chronic myofascial pain syndrome in addition to fibromyalgia, there is a book called "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies that explains clearly how to massage trigger points. Tell us your experience with self massages for fibromyalgia symptoms. Rate this fibromyalgia / myofascial pain treatment below.

Self massage for pain relief   02/21/16

Self massage works great for me, when I am having a ouchy day. I start off light and steady. Increaser the pressure as tolerated. Paying close attention to areas of tenderness. Using acupressure techniques, I am usually able to release the pain between massage appointments. I am a massage therapist.

Self Massage During a Flare   04/20/15
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
I was in a full flare. Every part of my body ached from an active weekend. I thought using a large handheld massager w heat would loosen stiff muscles, relieve body ache. I massaaged everwhere-hands, wrists, legs, feet, ankles, hips, shoulders, back, neck. Soon after i became super foggy w the flu like malaise..pain was worse and constant, sharper, got a headache. Neck and back were especially bad. Had a horrible nights rest, woke up w swollen left lyph node in throat. Really thought i would be spending the day unable to move. Luckily, i had one emergency percocet which i took with coffee. In 15 minutes i felt pain free. That was 5 hrs ago. Im a little worried how and when the pain will return :/
