I started taking melatonin to help with sleep. At first it did not seem to work but I kept taking ti anyways and after about three weeks I found myseld falling alseep quickly which was unheard of for me. I still wake up occassionally early a.m. but usually can sleep right through until the alarm goes off.

Melatonin For Sleeping   11/19/06
Reviewed by:     Location Not Given
My fibromyalgia doctor, Dr. Dantini from Florida, recommends melatonin (5-10 mg at bedtime every night) to his patients to help with sleep issues. This really helped me get a jump start on rest and feeling better. I took 9 mg (three 3 mg capsules) for six months, then dropped to 6 mg for another three months, now at a 3 mg per night dose for several years. It doesn't help with pain or other issues, but when the body is rested it helps with these issues. I have tried different brands, presently use Natrol because it also has calcium and B6 along with 3 mg melatonin in a small round tablet form. I take it 1/2 hour before bedtime. My husband takes another brand and only sporadically, which doesn't help his sleep be regular. My body responds best when I take it every night, not just when I feel I need it.
